History of the Department

The Optometry Techniques Department was established in 2023 at the Technical College in Hawija, with the aim of preparing qualified technical professionals specialized in vision examination, diagnosis, and correction of refractive errors. The department seeks to provide students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills that enable them to deliver high-quality visual services, supporting the healthcare sector and serving the community.The department adopts a modern curriculum that integrates theoretical and practical aspects. Students are trained in specialized laboratories equipped with the latest optical devices and instruments, in addition to field visits to public and private hospitals as well as optometry centers. These practices are designed to help students gain practical experience and connect academic education with professional reality.The department is supported by a qualified teaching staff dedicated to enhancing students’ scientific and professional competencies in line with the latest developments in optical techniques and vision healthcare.
