Al-Hawija Polytechnic College organized a symposium on (Quality and Sustainable Development: One Path Towards Progress).

Under the auspices of the President of the Northern Technical University, Professor Dr. Alia Abbas Al-Attar, and under the supervision of the Dean of Al-Hawija Polytechnic College, Professor Dr. Omar Khalil Ahmed, and within the sustainable development activities, the Department of Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Techniques, in cooperation with the Department of Quality Assurance and University Performance at the University Presidency and the Quality Assurance and University Performance Evaluation Division at our college, organized a symposium on (Quality and Sustainable Development: One Path Towards Progress).

The lectures were delivered by:

• Asst. Lect. Hamza Omar Siddiq

The symposium was attended by a number of the college’s staff and students.

The symposium covered:

1. The concept of quality and its importance in developing institutions, and the complementary relationship between quality and sustainable development.

2. The role of quality in achieving sustainable development goals, and the importance of continuous improvement and innovation in supporting sustainability.

3. The challenges facing the application of quality systems in different institutions.

4. Spreading the culture of social responsibility and preserving environmental resources.

The symposium demonstrated: That the application of quality standards is considered one of the most important means to achieve sustainable development, through improving institutional performance, rationalizing the use of resources, reducing waste, and raising the level of educational, health, and administrative services, as well as enhancing innovation and achieving a balance between economic, social, and environmental aspects.

The symposium aimed to:

• Spread awareness of the importance of quality in achieving sustainable development.

• Enhance the culture of continuous improvement within educational and service institutions.

• Demonstrate the role of quality in raising performance efficiency and achieving societal progress.

• Encourage the adoption of sustainable practices in various sectors.

• Support innovation and the use of modern technologies to achieve sustainability.

The symposium concluded with the following recommendations:

• The necessity of adopting quality standards in various institutions to ensure performance improvement.

• Enhancing the culture of sustainable development among students and society.

• Organizing specialized courses and workshops in the field of quality and sustainability.

• Supporting environmental initiatives and rationalizing the consumption of natural resources.

• Encouraging scientific research and innovation to achieve sustainable development.
