Under the auspices of the President of the Northern Technical University, Professor Dr. Alia Abbas Al-Attar, and with the follow-up of Professor Dr. Omar Khalil Ahmed, Dean of the College, and within the sustainable development activities, the Department of Medical Laboratory Technologies and the Government Media and Communication Division organized a course on (Medical Fungi and Their Impact on Human Health).

The lectures were delivered by:

  • Mr. Bareq Kamel Jassim

The course was attended by a number of the college’s staff and students.

The course covered:

  • Introduction to the latest techniques used in diagnosing microbial diseases.

  • Methods of laboratory preparation and examination of clinical specimens.

  • Applications of medical laboratory technology in the field of fungi.

  • Discussing the practical challenges facing medical laboratory workers and ways to address them.

  • Practical training on using modern devices in medical analyses.

The course demonstrated:

  • The importance of keeping pace with modern developments in medical laboratory techniques to ensure diagnostic accuracy.

  • The necessity of adhering to international standards in specimen collection, preservation, and examination.

  • The vital role of microbiological techniques in the early detection of infectious diseases.

  • The importance of continuous training for medical laboratory workers to raise their practical efficiency.

  • Enhancing cooperation between academic institutions and health centers to develop applied scientific research.

The course aimed to:

  • Develop the participants’ skills in using modern techniques in medical laboratories.

  • Enhance theoretical and practical knowledge in the fields of viruses, fungi, and oral microbes.

  • Raise the efficiency of medical cadres in the early and accurate diagnosis of infectious diseases.

  • Consolidate the principles of occupational safety and quality control within medical laboratories.

  • Encourage applied scientific research and link its outcomes to the local health reality.

The course concluded with the following recommendations:

  • The necessity of continuing to organize specialized training courses to develop the skills of medical cadres.
